Dozens of Penhold citizens met with councillors over breakfast at Memorial Hall to share their vision and passion for the future of Penhold.

ìOur Penhold Community Breakfast and Workshop on January 25 was a great success,î said Penhold mayor Dennis Cooper. ìWe had over 80 people attend the breakfast that was cooked by our councillors.î

Food for the event was donated by Penhold First Choice Foods and organized by the town.

After breakfast, 50 citizens were broken into six groups led by councillors Cory Kingman, Mike Walsh, Mike Yargeau, Julia King, Sharolyn Sanchez and Kathy Sitter to discuss two questions.

The questions were: What do you think a community looks like? And what do you think the town of Penhold needs to do? The answers were taken back to council for future discussion and guidance in long-term planning.

ìIt was a good experience for us as town councillors to talk to the citizens,î said Coun. Cory Kingfield. ìThere was a good mix of people at the tables and we learned a lot.î

Individual questions ranged from water supply, sewage treatment, taxes, and new developments.

ìWe hope this is a good step towards engaging the community so we can best serve their needs,î said Cooper. ìIt is our job to listen, and govern with the resources we are given efficiently.î
