Aberdeen Welfare Workers update

By F. Quesseth

Nine ladies attended the January meeting of the Aberdeen Welfare Workers. It was held at the home of Roberta and Lou Armstrong. Roll call was answered with payment of dues for 2011. Correspondence included letters of appeal from the Salvation Army and the Canadian Red Cross, also a thank you from them. We also received a letter from the Bethany Homes, now joined in with the Hope Mission in Edmonton.

Doris Whitehead volunteered lunch for the February Bingo at Poplar Grove. She will be assisted by Lorraine Martin. Karen Swanson gave the report of the December Bingo at Poplar Grove. She also gave a report on the Sunshine part of our groups business.

Perfect attendance gifts were presented to Doris Whitehead, Karen Swanson, Karen Champ and myself by Karen S. and Roberta Armstrong. Karen Swanson also presented Lorraine Martin with her birthday gift and we all sang happy birthday to her.

I was the recipient of Karen Champs calendar contest.

Officers for 2011 are as follows: President and Publicity – Flo Quesseth, Vice President – Doris Whitehead, Secretary/Treasurer – Karen Champ, Sunshine – Karen Swanson, Photographer – Laverne Campbell.

Lorraine Martin invited us to her home for the February meeting. Roll call will be something pertaining to Valentines Day.

Sympathy is extended to Jackalyn McConnell in the recent bereavement of her husband Darcy McConnell. Sympathy is also extended to Jackalyn's parents Phyllis and Jim Towle for the bereavement of their son-in-law, Darcey.

I was a guest of my daughter Twyla Quickstad, son Bryn and friend Cal at Christmas time. While there I visited the Quickstad family and the Hancock family. Twyla, Cal and Bryn then came down here for a few days to visit myself and Maxine, Greg and family.
