Lots of big news from Innisfail Seniors Drop-In

Summer and sunshine - a great combination! And I trust you are enjoying them. When you have had enough sunshine and fresh air come to the seniors drop-in and enjoy a game of floor curling, carpet bowling, crib, whist, canasta, bridge or board games.

Summer and sunshine - a great combination! And I trust you are enjoying

them.

When you have had enough sunshine and fresh air come to the

seniors drop-in and enjoy a game of floor curling, carpet bowling,

crib, whist, canasta, bridge or board games. You would be most welcome

and we'd love to make some new friends.

If you are visiting in town and need something extra and fun to do

drop in and see what's happening. An activity list is printed in the

Community Program Guide or we have monthly programs available at the

centre.

On Aug. 13 we'll be having a pot-luck picnic at the drop-in with

games, activities and possibly a short humorous video to test out our

brand new wall mounted television. Later in the month on Aug. 22, join us

for tea and goodies at the historical village. Men are welcome too,

even though you think you are already sweet enough!

We've had a great winter/spring season and are continuing to have lots

of good fun over the summer . Thanks and appreciation to all members

and volunteers who have contributed to this success. Give yourselves a

pat on the back.

The much needed bathroom renovations are underway thanks to the hard

working committee and Terry Welsh, the town's community services director, as well as other Town of Innisfail officials. If there is a need to shut down activities for a short while notices will be placed on the drop-in doors.

In conjunction with Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) the Wellness sessions will return Sept.10 with a presentation on Wills, Personal Directives and Power of Attorney by Carolyn Tulloch. Carolyn is a very personable, professional speaker with a wealth of information to

share.

Due to the large crowd at last year's session not everyone had

an opportunity to have their questions answered so she has been asked

to return by popular demand. Wellness sessions are open to the public

but we do ask that you pre-register.

Our big news is the update on something that was brought to your

attention in the last news article. Get ready for a fantastic party!

We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Innisfail Seniors Drop-In! An enthusiastic committee has been chosen. The date is Nov. 14, so mark it on your calender in big red letters and get your

party clothes ready. The invitation is out to all current and former

drop-in members and their families.

What recollections do you have of your drop-In days? Did you enjoy a

favorite activity? Were there any special events that occurred that no

longer take place? How about interesting trips that were taken or

special parties that were held?

Reminisce and share with your family and friends and current drop-in members then come out for a great celebration on the evening of Nov. 14 at the Innisfail Legion. We're looking forward to having an exciting time.

Please watch for future updates and advertisements in the Innisfail

Province closer to the actual 40th anniversary celebration.

Take care to have an especially happy summer.
