Well over 1,000 Innisfailians lined Main Street and side avenues on Saturday (June 14) to take in the annual Innisfail Rotary Rodeo Parade.

The event, under gorgeous late spring skies, began at 10:30 a.m. with members of Innisfail's RCMP detachment leading from 51 Avenue and then onto Main Street.

The 25-minute parade featured representations from the towns of Innisfail, Penhold, Bowden, as well as officials from Red Deer County, local MLA Kerry Towle and federal Red Deer MP Earl Dreeshen.

Several local businesses participated as well, along with regional 4H clubs, Innisfail schools, service groups such as the Boys and Girls Club of Innisfail, the Innisfail Fire Department, and several sporting, recreational and cultural organizations, including the Innisfail Eagles, Innisfail Skating Club, members of 7 Penhold Air Cadet Squadron, and the Innisfail and District Historical Society.

As the parade marched down Main Street, there were several colourful floats thrilling the huge throng of spectators who were on the receiving end of candies, treats and even miniature footballs.

The parade is running in conjunction with the 54th annual Innisfail Professional Rodeo taking place at the Daines Rodeo Ranch, just north of town along the C & E Trail.
