RED DEER COUNTY – Four people sustained serious injuries from yesterday's two-vehicle collision at a rural intersection west of the hamlet of Markerville.

RCMP Cpl. Laurel Scott said at about 8:35 p.m. on Aug. 13 Innisfail RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Twp. Rd. 364 and Secondary Highway 766.

Scott said the collision involved a pickup truck believed to be travelling southbound and a westbound car, which the RCMP has determined to be previously reported as stolen.

She said four adults were transported to hospitals, two from each vehicle. While the injuries were described as serious to each adult, they were not life-threatening, said Scott.

She said traffic on the road was diverted while the attending RCMP collision analyst conducted a scene examination. Scott said the Criminal Crash Investigation Team (CCIT) was deployed to assist in the investigation.

The probe into the crash remains ongoing in relation to the cause of the collision, said Scott.

She said the RCMP can confirm that charges in relation to the collision are pending.
