Red Deer County is about to take a more active role in the local business community with its decision to investigate the Innisfail and District Chamber of Commerce.

During the March 4 Red Deer County council meeting, an invitation from the Innisfail chamber was received and discussed by those present.

ìIt is important that we are part of the Innisfail and District Chamber of Commerce and we represent ourselves in all the county,î said Coun. Christine Moore in support of county presence on the chamber.

Coun. Connie Huelsman added her support for involvement with the chamber saying the Innisfail business agency serves as a collective for many communities.

Council approved Coun. Don Church to be the designated county attendee to chamber breakfast meetings at 7: 30 a.m. twice a month. Coun. Huelsman was also selected as the alternate attendee.

Support from administration was also given to consider membership in the chamber pending results from the first meeting attended by Church. Council was told that membership in the chamber was a ìreasonable cost.î

ìI am delighted that Red Deer County will be attending chamber meetings,î said Diane Mineault, executive director of the chamber of commerce. ìWe look forward to serving ratepayers and businesses in Red Deer County in our jurisdiction alongside the county.î
