BOWDEN – Innisfail RCMP is advising motorists driving on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway from Bowden to the Didsbury overpass at Highway 582 to take “extra precautions” as bad weather is causing deteriorating road conditions today.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said increased snow and wind in that area of the highway is also causing reduced visibility.

“I had the opportunity to speak to one of the local officers there, one of the traffic officers, and he advised that visibility was poor,” said Savinkoff. “They are just starting to receive reports of collisions on the QE II Highway.

“Fortunately, there was no indication that the highway was impassable. There are no serious collisions yet,” he added. “But due to the poor weather conditions they're anticipating an increase in the amount of collisions.”

Savinkoff said RCMP are recommending against travel and are asking motorists to be extra careful when driving in the area.
