Alberta reports 247 new cases of COVID-19

On Sunday, the Alberta government reported 247 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province.

That brings the total number of cases of the virus so far to 4,480, with 1,549 confirmed recovered cases.

Of those infected, 83 people have been hospitalized, 20 of whom are in intensive care units.

The province reported that 460 cases are suspected to be the result of community transmission.

The press release noted that Albertans can help prevent the spread of the virus by practising good hygiene that can include washing hands regularly for a least 20 seconds, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, avoiding touching your face and disposing of tissues properly.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever and shortness of breath.

A total of 125,310 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the province. A total of 4,407 tests have been completed in the last 24-hours.
