The Innisfail Art Council is excited to be presenting its 4th Annual Art Show and Sale in the Community Room at the Innisfail Library/Learning Centre on Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22.

All the works presented at the Annual Art Show and Sale are by local artists, from novice to professional. With 25 members participating, there will be more than 250 original pieces never shown before. Submissions include paintings, art cards, carving and pottery.

This year we are pleased to present our featured exhibit Our Town. It is the history of Innisfail and area – as seen through artists’ eyes.

This much anticipated event starts with the gala on Friday evening at the Innisfail Library/Learning Centre from 6 to 9 p.m. Wine and appetizers will be available. Admission is $5. This is the second year for the Friday evening gala event. You won’t be disappointed.

On Saturday, the Show and Sale is from 10:30 a.m. to  4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is $5.

Last year’s comments include, “I didn’t know we had so many talented artists” ,  “Very professional”,  “I feel like I am at an opening for an art show in a major city” and “Date night!”

The Innisfail Art Council is on Facebook where information regarding the art show, membership and upcoming classes is provided.

The Innisfail Art Council is a group of men and women who practise and promote visual arts. There has been an art club in Innisfail for more than 30 years. Today there is an enthusiastic membership working hard to promote the value and appreciation of local art and to provide mentorship to new and emerging artists.

The art council has open-studio sessions on Mondays from October to April. Members meet at Divot’s Restaurant and the Innisfail Golf Course. New members are welcomed, encouraged and mentored. Our member artists have a wide and varied background in the arts.

There is great value in an open studio as you are working in a group of like-minded people who can offer critique, advice and learning opportunities. Classes are offered throughout the year. We have field trips to galleries, artistic events in Alberta and painting days at outdoor locations.

Iris White is the chair of the Innisfail Art Show and Sale.
