Mountain View Colts back in first place going into weekend play

DIDSBURY - The Mountain View Colts are back in action at the Memorial Complex tonight against Sylvan Lake and Saturday against the Medicine Hat Cubs.

The Mountain View Colts continued their winning ways last weekend, defeating Cochrane and High River in back-to-back home games.

The Didsbury-based Colts 2022-23 Heritage Junior B Hockey League team now have a 10-4 record, good enough for first place in the north division.

The Colts defeated the Cochrane General 5-3 at the Didsbury Memorial Complex on Nov. 11.

The locals got goals from Trey Stovin (assists Jordan Saunders and Aidan Saunders), Paton Rothenbusch (assist Steven Bell), Carter Layden, Bell (assists Hayden Sotheran and Corson Waiting), Rothenbusch (assist Sotheran).

Netminder Chance Griffith stopped 47 of 50 shots for the win.

The Colts returned to the Memorial Complex Saturday, Nov. 12 coming away with an 8-5 win over the High River Flyers.

The locals got goals from Stovin (assist Cordin), Carter Layden (Haiden Parks), Harley Smith (assist Bell), Jay Heistad (assist Corbin Rae), Stovin, Waiting, Haiden Parks (assists Aidan Saunders and Stovin), and Ryan Bauer (assists Waiting and Bell).

Netminder Shayne Price got the win, stopping 36 of 41 shots.

The Colts have 20 points this season, two ahead of the second place Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
