Didsbury's municipal departments give third quarter updates

DIDSBURY - During its Oct. 13 meeting, town council was given an update on third quarter activities for various municipal departments.

Municipal enforcement update

The CAO report included a report on the activities of Didsbury municipal enforcement department from July 1 to Sept. 30.

During that period, 140 files were processed, including nine provincial tickets, seven municipal tickets, 77 warnings issued, 41 action requests received, and five posi-tickets, which are issued to youth for the positive behaviour of wearing bicycle helmets.

On Sept. 14, community peace officer Ryan Anderson participated in a motorist education joint force operation with Didsbury RCMP officers. The action included reminding motorists of school zones being in effect.

The operation resulted in 12 warnings being issued for speeding violations, seven warnings for failing to obey stop signs, and two warnings for failing to provide proper documentation.

Public works/campground

The report also included an update on work conducted by the public works department in the third quarter.

During that time, department personnel responded to 30 action requests, including 14 road and alley calls, six utility water calls, four utility solid calls, one calls at the cemetery, and five general calls.

The department incurred 36 hours of overtime in the third quarter.

CAO Ethan Gorner also reported total occupancy at the Rosebud Valley Campground was 2,039 in 2020, up from 2,021 in 2019. Total revenue for the season was $20,977.

Councillors accepted Gorner’s report as information.
