DIDSBURY - Area companies continued to generously give back to their communities during this holiday season.

West-Can Seal Coating made a recent $10,000 donation to Olds & District Hospice Society.

"We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to give back to a community that we have been a member of for over 20 years," said Matthew Arnill, vice-president of operations and Andrew Arnill, operations manager in a statement.

"A tough economy in Central Alberta coupled with a pandemic is making it difficult for charities to attract both donations and maintain volunteer staffing. The need for a strong Olds & District Hospice Society remains as strong as ever."

Dick’s Trucking has always found ways to show their gratitude to their customers that keep them busy year-round, especially at Christmastime.

But with COVID restrictions this year, this was becoming a challenge.

Randy Dick decided to have a conversation with Canada Malting Co. locations and a put forth the idea that rather then having the employees benefit from a gift, would they be open to a donation to a charity of their choice in the community.

This idea was well received and encouraged.

The following charities benefited:

• Innisfail & District Christmas Bureau $700

• Beiseker Food Bank $500

• Wheatland County Food Bank $500

• Bawlf Preschool $500

• Children’s Hospital Calgary $500

• Carstairs Christmas Hamper $500

• Didsbury Christmas Hamper $1,000
