Cremona carnival pleases one and all

Two-part skating extravaganza saw more than two dozen individual and group performances in front of a near-capacity Cremona arena

CREMONA - Dozens of local and area skaters took part in the 33rd annual Cremona Figure Skating Club carnival on Saturday, March 25 with the skaters performing under the direction of coaches Rhonda Grenier, Shannon Misiewicz and Karen Earle.

The two-part skating extravaganza saw more than two dozen individual and group performances in front of a near-capacity Cremona arena.

‘Come One, Come All’ was the theme of this year’s carnival.

Club president Karen Earle commended the local skaters, coaches and other helpers for the many, many hours of practice and rehearsals that went into Saturday’s event.

“Thanks to the gang for the set design and decorations, to the parents and volunteers for putting together all the outstanding costumes,” said Earle. “Most of all I would like to thank our amazing skaters for your dedication and hard work put into this year’s skating season.”

The coaches were helped out by a number of CanSkate program assistants: Paige Jensen, Kailynn Collins, Calleigh Lashmar, Brynlie Hogg, Mecaela Stambaugh, Bella Quigley and Nia Ferner.

Groups performances at the carnival included “Pink Elephants On Parade - Dumbo” by Canskate Yellow, “Cirque Dan La Rue” by Powerskaters, “A Struggling Circus - Charlie Chaplin” by Canskate Blue, and “Everyone Wants To Be A Cat - The Aristocats” by CanStar - Cats.

President and coach Earle also commended the many local and area sponsors who made Saturday’s carnival possible. The Cremona Skating Club is now in its 36th year.
