CARSTAIRS - Over 300 athletes came out for the second annual Carstairs Invitational and Fun Gymnastics Meet held recently at Hugh Sutherland School.
The meet saw athletes ranging from four years old up to 14 in a number of different categories and events. Participating clubs from out of town were: Olds, Airdrie, Calgary, Canmore, Olds, Three Hills, Wainwright, Rocky Mountain House, Lethbridge and Ponoka.
Natalie Killam, treasurer for the Carstairs Gymnastics Club, said the meet went very well.
"There were three components to the meet: the fun meet for athletes in the Can Gym program (recreational); the invitational portion for athletes in the Junior Olympic program (competitive); and this year, for the first time, we added a section for performance teams to compete on Sunday," said Killam. "This is the Carstairs Gymnastics Club's biggest fundraiser of the year and we had a very successful weekend. Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors who made it possible."
