Olds RCMP investigate arson to an abandoned Bowden building

Police say a door on the former Mom's Kitchen building had been intentionally set on fire

BOWDEN – RCMP say an abandoned building in Bowden was set on fire on purpose Thursday.

Olds RCMP report the detachment responded to an arson call just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 27 at a property formerly known to house the restaurant Mom’s Kitchen.

The building is located on 20th Avenue between 20th Street and 21st Street.

“The investigation revealed that a door to the structure had been intentionally set on fire,” police said in a press release issued yesterday, Jan. 28.

Damage to the building was limited to the door, according to police.

The fire, police said, was observed by a pedestrian who called 911.

Olds RCMP are asking for the public's assistance for any information in relation to the incident or identifying those responsible.

Police are looking for any security footage or dash cam footage along 20th Avenue between 20th Street and 21st Street between 7 and 8 p.m. on Jan. 27.
