Suspect at large in shooting that killed one and injured two others

Police continue to search for those responsible in a deadly shooting that occurred on Saddle Lake Cree Nation early Saturday morning. Police say this incident is unrelated to a separate major incident that occurred in the community that same morning.

SADDLE LAKE – One man is dead, and another two people were injured in a shooting that took place on Saddle Lake Cree Nation on the morning of June 17. Police continue to search for those responsible for the deadly shooting. 

St. Paul RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residence on Saddle Lake Cree Nation that occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. 

Police located a deceased man outside of the residence upon their arrival. Another two individuals with injuries were located and transported to hospital in stable condition. 

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over carriage of the investigation. 

“Although early in the investigation, RCMP believe that all victims are related to the same targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public,” states information provided by RCMP. 

RCMP have also confirmed that this incident is unrelated to a separate major incident that occurred in the community that same morning.

Investigators believe that there are witnesses to these incidents and are asking those individuals to come forward.
