PHOTOS: Firefighters knock down blaze at Okotoks trailer park

A shed fire at a trailer park in Okotoks, south of Calgary, spread to the adjoining trailer, but firefighters stopped it from spreading to other nearby homes.

Firefighters made quick work of a fire at an Okotoks residence Saturday afternoon.

The call came in at approximately 4:10 p.m. July 29 of a fire that had started a shed in the Okotoks Village trailer park.

Responders were on scene within minutes and began fighting the flames that had begun to spread into the main residence.

"The initial call was to a shed fire at the rear of the property, and by the time the crews got here extended on the bravo side to the opposite property, made entry into the actual mobile home through the ceiling and was travelling along the ceiling," said Okotoks Fire Chief Trevor Brice.

"Crews made entry, quickly knocked down both the exposures on the outside, and got a good knock on the fire internally."

By 5 p.m. crews had the flames under control before the house could become fully engulfed, and are currently managing hot spots.

"We're just now making sure that there's no hot spots that could reignite," Brice said.

No one was hurt in the fire, and chief said the cause is being investigated.

"We've got an investigation in progress and have a crew coming to help," Brice said, adding such matters take time, even if it may seem obvious.

"Even if we know, we're still going to do an investigation."
