COCHRANE - Cochranites are invited to pack lunches for their friends and family, and enjoy the lovely summer weather with the Town’s new summer-long initiative, Picnic in the Park.
According to a Town news release, the new initiative is intended to celebrate the opening of the Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza green space.
Starting on July 10, and running through the summer, the Picnic in the Park initiative aims to give residents, visitors, and downtown workers a relaxing lunchtime experience, while also enjoying the sights and energy of Cochrane’s historic downtown.
As a way to further commemorate the event, the first 50 visitors have the chance to receive a free Cochrane Information Centre picnic blanket. Free picnic blankets can be claimed by visiting the Cochrane Information Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Station at 360 Railway St. West. Picnic blankets are limited, and are only available while supplies last.
As a great way to spend time with family and loved ones, visitors can also inquire about family-friendly lawn games, activities, and toys to enjoy while they spend time dining al-fresco in the space.
Interim director of planning and development services for the Town of Cochrane, Mike Korman, said the Cochrane information centre is proud to bring the new initiative to the community.
"We invite everyone to visit the Cochrane Information Centre at The Station and discover the countless opportunities for exploring Cochrane while enjoying the Civic Plaza amenities,” Korman said.
Visitor parking for the Cochrane Information Centre is located south of Railway St beside the Cochrane Public Library. For more information and directions, Cochrane.ca/CIC.
