EDMONTON — The Edmonton Police Service says it has removed a video on its official TikTok account after complaints it promoted outdated gender norms, violence and intimidation.

A police spokeswoman says in a statement that the 25-second video, which was meant to be lighthearted, missed the mark.

The video showed an officer kicking a door open and chugging two cans of beer as he walks toward the camera and tosses the cans to the ground.

A caption noted the officer was getting into his cruiser in a hurry because his wife had texted him that a boy was picking up their daughter for a date.

The officer appeared to be re-enacting an entrance often made by six-time World Wrestling Federation champion Stone Cold Steve Austin as he angrily entered the wrestling ring after drinking a can of beer.

Following thousands of views, the video was removed and police clarified that no alcohol was actually consumed for the video.
