Didsbury committees plan final work before election

Recommendations coming on Christmas lights, decorations, stop signs at three-way intersections, speed limit in town

DIDSBURY — Three standing committees of the Town of Didsbury have set out areas and topics members plan to pursue until the October 2021 municipal election.

Reports from the committees were presented to council during last week’s regularly scheduled meeting.

The strategic planning committee is the committee that provides recommendations and advice to council regarding financial planning, budget, capital expenditure, land development, facility development, infrastructure management and fleet management.

The committee plans to review and make recommendations to council on the following topics: multi-year capital plan, multi-year utility budget, performance based budget framework, pre-election orientation, post-election orientation, and items referred by council.

The performance evaluation committee provides recommendations and advice to council regarding service levels and facility utilization.

The committee plans to review and make recommendations to council on the following topics: Christmas lights and decorations, stop signs at three-way intersections, speed limit in town, intersections on Highway 582 at 20th Street and 23rd Street, general sign and traffic device review, east water reservoir, and items referred by council.

The policy and governance committee provides recommendations and advice to council regarding the development and compliance of bylaws, policies, and shared service agreements. 

The committee plans to review and make recommendations to council on the topics including: code of conduct bylaw, water bylaw, utility polices, and suggest ways to reduce red tape.

Council accepted as information all three of the committees’ reports.
