Suspect sought in Sundre's Race Trac Gas break-in

SUNDRE — The local RCMP detachment is turning to the public for assistance following an early morning break and enter at a gas station last week.

Early on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 10 between the hours of about 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., a suspect forcefully gained entry to the Race Trac Gas and convenience store through the front door before proceeding to steal a large quantity of cigarettes, reads a portion of a press statement issued by police on Monday, Nov. 16.

“There’s a good chance a truck driver or mill worker may have seen the suspect vehicle at the Race Trac,” said Const. Jared Hamilton.

The incident, he said, involved a suspect in a single vehicle directly in view of passing traffic on Main Avenue.

“The suspect vehicle, which approached the store from the back alley, is believed to have fled eastbound on Main Avenue,” reads the release, adding, “The suspect and vehicle descriptions are unknown.”

Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed a suspicious vehicle at or near Race Trac Gas early on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to contact the local detachment at 403-638-3655.
