Sundre Oilmen's Association hosts first bonspiel since 2019

Sundre Curling Club's rink had 16 teams playing over the past weekend

SUNDRE — The local curling rink was a busy place over the weekend for the return of the Sundre Oilmen's Association's annual bonspiel.

It was the first bonspiel hosted by the Oilmen’s since 2019, and there were 16 rinks participating, including visitors from Calgary, Torrington, Eckville, as well as Rocky Mountain House and several local teams. The A event was won by the Bemoco rink.

Organizers were also pleased to see quite a few spectators come out to watch.

Although a final count on the total amount raised was not immediately available, the organization recently donated $1,000 to the Sundre Minor Hockey Association as well as another $500 to the Sundre High School girls’ curling team.
