SUNDRE — The process to select a permanent chief to run the Sundre Fire Department is progressing.

Council heard an update from the municipality’s chief administrative officer during a council meeting last month conducted by teleconference.

“For the past at least five years, council has been looking at the permanent fire chief position,” Linda Nelson told council during her report.

“We have posted that position, and we will begin the selection process in the very near future,” she said, adding administration sought council’s support in using Behr Integrated Services to participate in the selection process.

“They have made a very, very reasonable offer. The amount that they are proposing is $2,850,” she said, adding the funds could be drawn from the current operating budget.

A motion by Coun. Rob Wolfe to approve the proposal from Behr to participate in selecting a permanent fire chief in the amount of $2,850 carried unanimously.
