Sundre-area man accused in impaired driving death dies

MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – A Sundre-area man charged following a collision that killed a 39-year-old Olds man in Mountain View County in December 2015 has died.

Jaylan Armstrong faced charges of impaired driving causing death and operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level more than 80 mg per cent.

According to an obituary notice posted on the Cochrane Country Funeral Home website, Armstrong died on March 22 at age 23. The cause of death was not given.

Ian Savage, Armstrong’s lawyer, confirmed Wednesday that his client has died.

Armstrong was ordered to stand trial following a preliminary hearing in Didsbury provincial court hearing on March 10. He attended that hearing although he did not speak during the proceedings.

Darryl Hyslop, 39, died when a pick up truck and a car collided on Highway 27 at Rge. Rd. 44 early on the morning of Dec. 15, 2018.
