Fire bans in effect for entire province

The Stelmach government has imposed a fire ban for the entire province in an effort to take pressure off hard-pressed firefighters battles dozens of blazes across Alberta.

The Stelmach government has imposed a fire ban for the entire province in an effort to take pressure off hard-pressed firefighters battles dozens of blazes across Alberta. Mountain View County has imposed its own ban, prohibiting all outdoor fires, including burning barrels. The only exceptions are internal household fire places and fires which are contained in cooking and heating appliances fueled by fluids or gases. Any fire permits previously issued are now void.
