PENHOLD -  Three young Calgarians are each facing numerous Criminal Code charges after allegedly stealing items from a local gas and convenience store.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 Innisfail RCMP received a call for a panic alarm at Penhold’s Centex gas station and store.

Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler said it was soon revealed that two males entered the store and demanded cash.

Eiler said the males fled with undisclosed items in a dark coloured Honda Civic car.

She said “very alert” citizens later provided excellent detailed descriptions of the males and the suspect vehicle to police, which, Eiler added, the RCMP quickly responded to.

With the assistance of Innisfail RCMP traffic services, Red Deer RCMP and Didsbury RCMP, the suspect vehicle was located on Highway 2 and stopped near the Didsbury turnoff at Highway 582. Three occupants of the fleeing vehicle were arrested without incident, said Eiler.

She said further RCMP investigation revealed the car the suspects were allegedly driving was also stolen.

Chgkouth Makuag, 20, of Calgary, has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and transporting alcohol within reach of the driver.

Makuag was released and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 29.

Two 15-year-old youths, who are also from Calgary, were also arrested and charged. However, their identity cannot be released as they are both under the age of 18 and protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
