Letter: Splitting of the conservative vote?

Tim Hoven running as independent in Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre constituency
opinion

Re: Independent candidate Tim Hoven in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre constituency in the upcoming provincial election

Mr. Hoven states that he was reeve of Clearwater County, which he was, for part of his term as councillor from 2017 to 2021. He won in Division 6 of Clearwater County in the municipal election in 2017 by one vote and lost in his bid for re-election in 2021 by over twice as many votes for the winner in Division 6.

For those of you who think that Mr. Hoven will stand with you and vote for his constituents if elected, I can personally attest that he won't. He was against a very strong portion of Division 6 constituents in the fall of 2018.

I'm sorry, what is meant by Take Back Alberta? I thought this is what the UCP did when the NDP were defeated in the last provincial election.

If Mr. Hoven is a strong supporter of the UCP and Premier Danielle Smith, he would put aside personal differences and put his support behind the declared UCP candidate in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre constituency instead of declaring he would run as an independent candidate.

All this will do, will split the vote and perhaps let the let the NDP candidate come out victorious. Just a thought.

Sundre
