This week, Express reporter Erin Fawcett has asked Councillor Lynne Mulder questions regarding the preliminary design for the Gaetz Ave. revitalization project.

"I really like what it does for our downtown," said Mulder. "Gaetz Avenue is really where we get all the pedestrian traffic downtown and it's where we have all the little shops. We've always talked about making our downtown more pedestrian friendly and boutique-like and I think this really does that and it brings to life some of the stores that are already here and it will highlight them more."

"I really like the street crossing and the concrete and the different colours that they have proposed to use," said Mulder. "It looks so pedestrian friendly and you have no trouble looking at where you walk and where you drive. I love the banners that they have too."

"I think it's really important," said Mulder. "The more pedestrians we have, the less crime we're going to have. There will be more eyes on the street. People will feel safer walking at night because there will be more lighting and better lighting than what we have now.

"But I think this redevelopment is essential if we want to keep our downtown and I think we all know that we want to keep our downtown and I think this will go a long way to improving and enhancing it."

"Not at the moment," said Mulder. "It is preliminary so there could be changes along the way but there are lots of trees, lots of lights and I think it's extremely attractive."
