Two men seriously stabbed downtown

Three males have been arrested in connection to a double stabbing incident early Thursday morning that left two men in serious condition.

At about 3 a.m. on Aug. 12 Red Deer city RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the parking lot of the downtown 7-11 convenience store at Ross St. and 47 Ave.

Police arrived and determined a fight broke out in the parking lot between five males.

A 43-year-old male sustained multiple stab wounds and a 24-year-old man was also stabbed.

Both males were transported to Red Deer Hospital Centre by ambulance with serious injuries.

RCMP said three culprits fled the scene and were arrested a short distance away by police.

Two males, a 19-year-old and 25-year-old, both from Wetaskiwin, along with a 20-year-old male from Red Deer remain in police custody.

Red Deer city RCMP Cpl. Kathe DeHeer said charges are pending.

The detachment's General Investigation Section continues to investigate.

"We (RCMP) are waiting to receive more information from the victims," said DeHeer.
