OLDS —  The August long weekend was “relatively safe and peaceful,” as far as Olds RCMP are concerned.

“I looked further into weekend calls, and overall it looks like we had a relatively safe and peaceful weekend in Olds,” Cpl. Courtney Harding wrote in an email.

In addition to a break-in at Big Rack Rentals, police also responded to another break-in that occurred that same evening – the night of Aug. 4.

This one occurred at an impound storage lot.

Harding said the suspects damaged vehicles on the lot in an attempt to steal catalytic converters.

That incident remains under investigation.

In addition, police responded to a disturbance during the weekend at a campground near Bowden.

One man was arrested and lodged at the Olds detachment, Harding wrote.

“Alcohol was a factor in this complaint,” she said.
