OLDS — RCMP are investigating the cause of a single vehicle rollover yesterday in which two occupants were trapped.

STARS air ambulance was called in for an airlift to hospital in Calgary.

The rollover occurred on 70th Avenue, south of 57th Street in Olds. Emergency crews got the call at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4.

Eight Olds firefighters responded with a rescue truck and engine. They were on-scene for about two-and-a-half hours. Ambulance crews and RCMP also responded.

“Upon arrival, crews found a single SUV on its roof with two occupants inside the vehicle with one being partially ejected and trapped,” a news release from the Olds Fire Department says.

“Firefighters quickly worked to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the trapped occupant, utilizing heavy lifting air bags and hydraulic cutting and spreading tools.”

“Emergency Services wants to remind all citizens to be aware of roadway safety during the summer months, and always pay attention to changing conditions,” the release says.
