Outstanding lien on Holy Trinity site being worked on

One subcontractor on the Holy Trinity School building site claims he has not been paid since May and has placed a lien on the building in order to get his money.

One subcontractor on the Holy Trinity School building site claims he has not been paid since May and has placed a lien on the building in order to get his money.

Jamie Jensen said he did metalwork, metal-cladding, installed soffits and other work on the building.

He said he is owed about $15,000 in labour costs.

“I'm the low guy on the totem pole and I did it for cheap. Nobody seems to care,” he said.

Paul Mason, superintendent for Red Deer Regional Catholic Schools, confirmed the building has one outstanding lien against it.

“This is an issue that is between the general contractor and the subcontractor, therefore we do not become involved with situations like this because (it's the) responsibility of the general contractor to resolve issues such as this, and it's also our understanding that the general contractor is working to get this lien successfully resolved,” he said.

A superintendent with Reed Atwood Builders, the general contractor on the job, said she could not comment on the issue, as there were “hundreds” of subcontractors that worked on the job.
