OLDS — The Town of Olds continues to offer transportation for older and disabled residents during the COVID-19 pandemic via its Sunshine Bus service.

The bus provides wheelchair accessible transportation within the town for seniors over the age of 50 and for people who have mobility issues.

“Right now we are down to about three to four drop-offs or drop-offs and pick-ups; three to four users a day.

“Three of the four per day are for dialysis. So we are down to the critical medical support part,” community services director Doug Wagstaff told Olds councillors during a meeting in May.

Wagstaff said town officials have put protocols in place calling for cleaning and sanitizing after and between each of the pick-ups and drop-offs.

Also personal protective equipment such as face masks have been provided to Sunshine bus drivers to ensure they are properly protected.

“Thank you. That’s good news,” Coun. Heather Ryan said.
