Olds byelection expenses released

OLDS — It cost a total of $20,051.55 to hold the Jan. 20 byelection in Olds.

The figure was contained in a report included in the Aug. 24 town council agenda package.

It includes hall rental, voting equipment, office supplies, printing costs and advertising as well as $2,952.88 in election overtime for 11 staff members who helped out.

It also includes $7,814.25 for council orientation and training conducted with a law firm after the election.

 

Coun. Wanda Blatz said the orientation and training session is required by the province under the Municipal Government Act.

The report also noted that expenses incurred to hold the 2017 municipal general election totalled $20,844.75, according to finance director Sheena Linderman.
