OLDS - Seven people are officially vying for the open position on council left vacated by the resignation of Wade Bearchell.

Nominations ceased at noon yesterday. Candidates have until noon today to withdraw their nomination if they choose, confirmed returning officer Marcie McKinnon.

Declared candidates include Keith Bishop, Sundai Cody, Darcy Dobush, Rudy Durieux, Mitch Thomson, Jan Thompson and Darren Wilson.
