No injuries were sustained, as on-site EMS cleared both drivers after a collision on 54th Ave. and Highway 27 last Tuesday evening at about 6 p.m.

After coming to a full stop at the intersection of 54th Ave and Highway 27, the driver of a 1991 Honda Accord proceeded to make a left turn, colliding with a westbound cattle trailer, say police.

“I suspect that she probably pulled out before it was safe to do so,” said Olds RCMP Cpl. Troy Byrt.

The driver of the Accord, an 83 year-old female from Olds, has been charged for failing to proceed safely after stopping at an intersection.

Police say the vehicle spun and began to travel through the Fas Gas parking lots.

When attempts to brake were made, the accelerator was mistakenly pressed instead, causing her to careen through a mailbox and a Lions Club bench.

The vehicle came to rest in the southwest corner of the Legion parking lot after sustaining significant damages.

Olds RCMP, EMS, and the Olds Fire Department attended the scene.
