OLDS — Connie Young is Olds College’s new vice-president of corporate services and chief financial officer (CFO).

The college made that announcement last week. Young starts her new job on Sept. 20. She replaces Greg Wiens, the college's CFO and director of business services, who in March announced plans to leave the college in 2022.

Young will play a big role at the college.

She will not only oversee the business services and finance there, but also information technology and facilities operations, which includes maintenance, capital projects and aspects of campus housing and food services.

In a news release, Olds College president Stuart Cullum said he’s pleased Young has accepted the job.

“As Olds College continues to grow and contribute to Alberta’s economic future through relevant academic and applied research programming, I believe that Connie will be a strong leader for our financial, business and operational activities,” he said.

Before taking the job at Olds College, Young served as associate vice-president of finance and commercial operations at Mount Royal University.

She has 16 years of experience working in higher education where she has led financial, audit, risk and commercial operations portfolios.

“I am delighted to be joining the executive team and community at Olds College,” Young said in the news release.

“The college has a long history of innovation, and is leading impactful advancements in agriculture and academic programming. I am honoured to be part of this exciting time at Olds College.”

Young obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Athabasca University. She has also received chartered professional accountant and certified general accountant designations.
