OLDS — A Mountain View County man faces five charges after police found three stolen trucks and two snowmobiles with altered vehicle information numbers (VINs) at a rural property east of Olds.

RCMP arrested Kevin Raymond Leischner, 48, of Mountain View County on Feb. 14 after members of Olds RCMP and the Southern Alberta Auto Theft Unit executed a search warrant at the residence.

According to Cst. Morley Statchuk of Olds RCMP, as a result of that search warrant, police seized two Ford F250 pickup trucks and a Ford F350 pickup truck, all of which are believed to have been stolen.

In addition, RCMP found two snowmobiles. They allege the VINs of those machines were altered. They also found a printer they believe was used to create false VINs.

In addition, police found property they allege was stolen during a break and enter to an Olds business reported last October.

As a result, Leischner has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5,000.

Following a judicial hearing, Leischner was released on a $1,500 no cash deposit to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Feb. 24.

RCMP are continuing their investigation into this matter and are asking the public to come forward with any information related to it.
