OLDS — The annual Read for 15 Challenge at Olds Municipal Library was a great success, according to program coordinator Josie Anton Roberts.

The provincewide initiative was held Jan. 27. Residents were urged to read for at least 15 minutes, then relay that accomplishment to the library.

A total of 846 people logged in their time.

“The phone was ringing off the hook all day,” Roberts wrote in an email.

There was lots of participation from local schools, including Reed Ranch, École Deer Meadow and Holy Trinity Catholic schools.

“It was the first time I've been part of Read for 15 and it was nice to see how many readers participated,” Roberts wrote.

The library also held a sleepover that night. A few families attended to hear stories and participate in crafts.

“There was a lot of excitement and the kids all had fun,” Roberts wrote.
