1955 - 2022

LuAnn Adele Duerksen was the seventh born child of Albert and Lydia Duerksen, born February 1955 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She grew up in the small
town of Bridgewater, South Dakota, along with her siblings: Jerry, Jean, Jim, Jack, JoAnn, Larry, Lois (who was stillborn), and Loren. In 1973, LuAnn ventured north to Didsbury, Alberta for post-secondary at Mountain View Bible College. While attending college she met a young man at the Didsbury Missionary Church, who influenced her decision to return for a second year.

She married Ron Vogel in March 1975. Ron started Ron Vogel Construction that same year, and LuAnn was his secretary and bidding assistant. Their first home was east of Didsbury, where they welcomed their daughter, Julie in June, 1978. Carolyn came along in September of 1981. LuAnn loved being a mom and thrived making homemade meals and crafts with the girls. However, their family wasn’t complete until Marlayna arrived in July, 1987. Ron and LuAnn enjoyed 47 years of fishing trips, drives in the country, camping, and multiple trips to South Dakota for Christmases and reunions to stay in touch with her family.

As much as LuAnn loved being a mom and wife, she especially enjoyed becoming a grandma! She loved spoiling Isaiah, Emma, Benjamin, Thomas,
Katherine, and Abigail. She was affectionately known as ‘Dollargrandma’ because she always came with some type of treat whenever she would visit.
Although LuAnn was taken from us too soon, her fun-loving spirit and love of Christ will remain with those who loved her, long into the future.
