January 8, 1935 - March 27, 2020

Dean Thomas passed away during the evening of March 27, 2020 at his farm home near Olds, Alberta. He was 85 years old.

Dean was predeceased by his parents Isabel (Nisbet) and Paul B. Thomas, and his step-father Ray Faught. He is survived by several immediate cousins: Isabel Golightly of Edmonton, Herbert (Diane) Nisbet of Bowden, Andy (Diane) Nisbet of Bowden, Donna (Bob) Humphries of White Rock, B.C., Albert Aunger of Nanaimo B.C., Peter Aunger of London Ont., Bob Thomas of Carstairs, Kay (Clair) Fischer of Didsbury, Eric (Virginia) Thomas of Didsbury, Betty Allen of Red Deer and their respective families.

Dean was a jack of all trades. He was schooled at Betchton; took welding and shop training in Red Deer; worked at the sawmill in Prince Rupert B.C; built roof trusses with a company in Olds; worked for Olds Auto Wreckers and farmed for many years. Dean also willingly lent a hand to many neighbours helping in whatever way was needed.

He will be remembered by the Community for his annual Fall “Old Time 1920’s Harvest” where he demonstrated hay racks full of stooks being fed into old threshing machines run by tractors.

Dean loved to round dance and would travel across Central Alberta to take part. He was involved with many different clubs, most recently with the Olds Evergreen Dance club.

Dean was an easy man to visit with and family was very dear to his heart, as was a home cooked meal for that matter. Many evening visits would go late into the night.

No celebration of life will be held at this time, due to current events. Family and friends have requested to get together at a later date when it is safe for everyone to attend.
