August 7, 1952 – June 18, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Kathy Tannas announces that she went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 18, 2021. Kathy is survived by her husband Clare, her siblings Jacquie (Don) Conrad and Bob (Marijana) Wiebe, children: Steven (Eileen) Tannas and Kristen (Troy) Josey, and grandchildren: Richard, Anica, and Kurtis Tannas and Hannah, Rebekah, and Micah Josey.

Kathy was raised on the Wiebe Farm south of Cremona, Alberta. She grew up attending and being involved in music at the Cremona Missionary Church. Her family and her faith were always central to her life. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, and extended family. She loved hosting people during holidays, cooking and baking, and visiting with neighbors and friends.  She attended and was involved in Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church for over 25 years, serving in music, small group ministry and supporting missions.

Kathy was a noted plant taxonomist and author (The Common Plants of the Western Rangelands) and alongside her husband and family did consulting and teaching throughout the province. She more recently published the fictional story, “Diaries of Polly Aster,” a fictional story dedicated to her grandchildren.

A memorial service for Kathy Tannas will be held on July 3rd at 1:00 pm at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church. Memorial donations can be made to Christar (www.christar.ca) designated to the Josey’s.
