January 5, 1943 - August 6, 2020

Lynne Stratton passed peacefully on Thursday August 6, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Lynne was born and raised in Medicine Hat, the eldest of five children. She exceled at academics and obtained her teaching certificate in Calgary. She then returned to Medicine Hat to teach and married her husband James (Jim) Stratton in 1964. A two-year adventure in Australia with their young family was a highlight of their early married life. From 1972-2007, Lynne and Jim made Water Valley their much-loved home. Lynne was active in the Water Valley Community Association and the establishment of the Chinook Creative Arts Foundation. Always up for a new challenge, over the years she managed her husband’s local plumbing and gas fitting business, wrote for the local newspaper, was a substitute teacher at Cremona school and embarked on a number of entrepreneurial initiatives.

After retirement, she enjoyed staying abreast of current events, bird watching, gardening, creative projects on their acreage and traveling and spending time with family. In 2007, the couple relocated to Rimbey to be closer to family.

Lynne was pre-deceased in 2014 by her husband, Jim and will be greatly missed by her son, Rob Stratton (partner, Audry van Aken); daughter, Tana Stratton; daughter-in-law, Jackie Stratton and granddaughters, MacKenzie and Sydney Stratton.

Lynne did not wish to have a service but to be quietly reunited with her husband in their special place. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Lynne, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
