 November 7, 1954 — Calgary Alberta January 20, 2023

Calgary Alberta It Is with deep, deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosalynn, beloved wife, sister, aunt, friend, and collector of ladybugs. Rosalynn passed at the age of 68 years at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary, Alberta, following a hard fought battle with cancer. Her devoted husband Wayne was by her side, loving her and gently kissing her forehead.

Rosalynn was born on November 7, 1954 at the Calgary General Hospital. She was the youngest child of Wililam and Vera Horne.

She attended Reed Ranch Elementary school and then on to graduate from Olds Jr.-Sr High School. High School French Class sparked her love of France. In 1972 she set off to backpack though Europe with friends. Upon returning from her first European adventure, Rosalynn worked, and then later enrolled as a student, at Olds College. In 1976, Rosalynn graduated from the Secretarial Arts program "With Distinction".

Rosalynn went to work in Calgary, first at Rothmans and later KPMG. In 1988 she was a volunteer for the Calgary Olympic Winter Games. October 27, 1990 was the happiest day of Rosalynn's life when she married the one and only love of her life, Wayne Starkes. Their 32 years of marriage were filled with deep love and devotion, lots of adventure and travel and many happy, regular days of just being together.

She loved Europe but she was true Alberta girl who loved the rnountains and the prairies and always called Alberta home.

Auntie Rose loved, and was loved back, by so many nieces and nephews (and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews!) She loved to play, care, and encourage. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader and supporter. She has filled so many little lives with love. She had so much love to give that she added chosen family as well. Adopted kids Vincent and Meghan Sweeny and their mother Cathy, adopted nephews Aaron, Luke, and Travis Horanskl, as well as adopted grandkids Amelia and Jonathan Lochet and their parents Ben and Lisa. Rosalynn is survived by her beloved husband Wayne, who she lovingly called Mr. Starkes, her brothers Dennis (Georgetta) Horne, Laverne (Dorothy) Horne, and in-laws Dui. and Merle Feltham, Geoff Muggridge (Kathy deceased), and Sharon Starkes (Sterling deceased). She was predeceased by her parents and her dear sister Twila.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 prn at the Royal Canadian Legion, Olds, AB. Donations in memory of Rosalynn may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. West View Funeral Services, Olds, entrusted with arrangements. 403-556-6576
