Marjorie

1932 - 2021

On December 3, 2021 our dear mother, Marjorie (Marge) Amber Schmidt of Innisfail passed away at the age of 89 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Debbie (Jim) Carter, son Jim (Belinda) Schmidt, daughter Pam (Jeff) Redmond, grandchildren: Nicole (Darcy) Blair, Shannon Carter (Jeff Bakker), Shelly Smith, Jodi Schmidt, Jeff (Alexa) Blish, Mandy (Trevor) McCormick, Katie Blish and 14 great grandchildren.

Mom was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on January 17, 1932 to David and Agnes Shunamon. In 1939 her family moved to Red Deer where she took her schooling.

Mom met our dad, Arnold, in Red Deer and they were married in Calgary on June 17, 1950. It was there that they were blessed with four children, later moving the family to Innisfail. They built a wonderful life together. Life on the farm, living in the home they built together, meant everything to mom. She devoted her life to her family and caring for Dad and our sister Wendy. Mom loved animals, gardening and making preserves. Family always knew they could count on Mom (Nannie) for having homemade cookies, cakes, bread and her Christmas pudding. As well, she was an excellent seamstress, sewing for us when we were young and later for the grandchildren. These talents have become lifelong gifts to her family.

Mom is now reunited with the love of her life, Arnold, and their precious daughter, Wendy. A Private Family Graveside was held at the Innisfail Cemetery. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to William Watson Lodge Kananaskis, at #1 Watson Road, Alberta T0L ZH0 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
