1948 - 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Diane Janette Ross (nee Burry) of Innisfail, Alberta, at the Innisfail Health Centre on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the age of 72 years, after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Diane was born July 5, 1948 to Charles and Janetta (nee Williamson) Burry, in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was raised in Richmond, British Columbia, where she worked at the Royal Bank after graduating. In 1970, Diane met the love of her life, Clayton Ross, while on a Caribbean Cruise. The two were married later that year and settled in Vegreville, Alberta. Diane continued working in banking, up until she became a stay at home mom, upon the arrival of her first daughter. Clayton’s career took them to Bonnyville, Alberta in 1979, and to Clayton’s home town, Innisfail, in 1986, where they remained after retirement.

Many good friends were made along the way; as Diane’s outgoing personality was always well received by those she met. In Innisfail, she returned to work in retail and later, as a Home Support Aide. Throughout the years, Diane enjoyed time spent with her family; as well as tending to the many flowers around the yard. She was also a willing volunteer with her church and other organizations. Most recently acting as the Driver Coordinator for Innisfail Meals-on-Wheels, until her health declined.

Diane will be lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty years, Clayton, her daughters, April (Troy) Park of Red Deer and Rhonda (Paul) Hughes of Calgary, her grandsons, Brady and Bretton Park, and Parker Hughes. She will also be sadly missed by her relatives of North Vancouver; her brother, Daniel (Pat) Burry, her nephew, Paul Burry and her grandnephew, Shogun Burry.

In keeping with Diane’s wishes, the family will be returning her to her favorite spot, Rathtrevor Beach, Parksville, British Columbia, for her final walk on the beach. If desired, Memorial Donations in Diane’s honour may be made directly to the Innisfail United Church, 4720 – 48 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta, T4G 1N6 or to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
