October 27, 2019

After a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Myrna passed away peacefully at age 64 surrounded by her family at the Olds Hospital Long Term Care Center on October 27, 2019.

Myrna was born in Innisfail to Ed and Frieda Schlag of Wimborne. She grew up on the farm, attending schools at Wimborne, Torrington, Trochu and Sait before marrying in 1979 and returning to live on a farm near Olds.

During the years Myrna had many jobs; first as a stenographer at the Bank of Montreal in Olds, then she did the accounts payable at the Olds College, followed by her position as Benefits Officer.

Myrna left the College to run her own business, Berry Delicious Market Garden, for many years working with plants doing what she loved.

Her loves also included the outdoors, animals, photography and family time.

Myrna had a large contagious laugh, a strong will and she loved pranks. Many times a whole room would burst into laughter after her hearing her unrestrained outbreaks.

She was very passionate and intelligent and was very proud of and had a great love for her children and grandchildren.

Myrna will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gene of 40 years, son Carter and Jessica Hammer ( Ciara, Amelia, and Shaela ) all from Olds and her daughter Tracey, who is living in France, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Frieda and also by her brother Nelson.

Myrna’s wishes were for no ceremony and a small private family gathering will be held to spread her ashes.

A special thanks to Myrna’s doctor, Dr. Leoni Kelly, and all the nurses and staff at the Olds Hospital Long Term Care Center where she was so well taken care of.

In lieu of flowers any donations could be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta. Cremation arrangements entrusted to West View Funeral Services, Olds 403-556-6576
