Herbert Arnold Kendze was born January 22, 1934 in Wadena, Saskatchewan to Julius and Olga Kendze.  He was the youngest child of 4 children.  Herbert passed away September 23, 2020 in Olds at the age of 86.

Herb grew up in Margo, Saskatchewan and moved to Leroy to buy grain for Pioneer elevator.  He met and married Anita Knudsen on November 8, 1957.  In 1967, Anita and Herb packed up their family of 4 girls (Patti, Deborah, Cheryl, Lori) and moved to Bashaw, Alberta.  Nine months later they moved to the Sundre area where they started farming.  A son (Darren) was born in Sundre. In 1971 they bought a quarter of land near Zella. One more son (Mark) joined the family here.

 Herb was active in almost all sports most of his life.  He played baseball, hockey and was also an avid curler.  While he was in Saskatchewan he also refereed hockey games.  His dream was to own a farm and that dream became reality in 1971.  In 1986, they purchased another quarter over by Westerdale where they lived for a number of years. 

Herb and Anita moved to Olds in 2015 where he resided until his passing. Herb is lovingly remembered by his daughters Patti (Brian) Gardner, Deborah Kendze, Cheryl (Ed) van de Pypekamp, Lori (Colin) Niemeyer; sons Darren (Trish) Kendze and Mark (Deborah) Kendze; one brother and one sister. He was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Anita and 1 brother.

 A private family service was held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the First Baptist Church, Olds.  Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. 403-507-8610
