Thomas Wilfrid Harrison of Olds passed away in his home on September 16, 2021.

Tom was born in Bowden, Alberta to Wilfrid & Pearl Harrison on November 25, 1932. He was the youngest of two boys and loved animals from a young age. Tom married Sandra (Hunter) on July 27, 1956. Together they raised four children. He enjoyed taking trips to the mountains and B.C. with his family.

For many years, Tom drove truck and made many deliveries around central Alberta. He finished his working career at the Olds transfer station in 2015 at the age of 81. If you didn’t know Tom from his trucking days or time at the transfer station, you may have known him for his many hours enjoying coffee and visiting with friends at Smitty’s, A & W, Tim Horton’s and Wendy’s.

Tom loved his many pets over the years and enjoyed spending time at the farm checking on the sheep and cattle. He also loved gardening and tending to his yard until he suffered a stroke in 2019 that made it difficult to do. Over the years, Tom spent many hours in hockey arenas, gymnasiums and curling rinks watching his children, grandchildren and most recently, great grandchildren play sports.

Although he will be missed, Tom has gone to be reunited with Sandra, the love of his life and wife of 59 years. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his children: Avery Harrison of Olds, Adele Cheek (Stan) of Olds, Brett Harrison of Olds, Kelly Harrison (Emma Frere) of Olds; his 5 grandchildren: Kylie Miller (Corry), Frances Cheek, Josh Cheek, Tiffany Nelson (Levi), Courtney Harrison; his 6 great grandchildren: Peyton Cheek, Zane & Shael Miller, Kaitlyn, Madelyn & Ashlyn Nelson; as well as his brother-in-law Clint Hunter of Red Deer.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Sandra (2016), his mother Pearl (2000), his father Wilfred (1992), and his brother Gordon (1988). A celebration of life will be held September 25, 2021 at 2 p.m. For more information call Adele at (403) 556-8552. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
