Betty MacLaren, beloved wife of Bruce of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the age of 93 years.
Born Elizabeth Estelle Bowman, she moved with her family in her first year to Alberta, where her father was employed in the grain business. She attended schools in Calgary until the family moved to Didsbury where she received her Jr. and Sr. High School education.
Betty married Bruce MacLaren in 1948 and has resided in Calgary for many years. She was employed by SAIT and worked in the
Learning Resources Centre for twenty-five years. She was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church and sang in many other church choirs. Betty was a member of St. Hilda Chapter Didsbury, Past Matron of North Star Chapter, O.E.S. and Past Queen of Sakkara Temple, Daughters of the Nile. Betty loved music, was an avid reader, enjoyed the flowers in her garden and her many knitting and needlework creations.
Besides her loving husband Bruce, Betty is survived by her daughters Heather (John) Green and Christine (Reid) Huzzey; and her grandchildren, Sandra (Courtland) Green, Helen (Matt) Huzzey, and Martin Huzzey. She was predeceased by her parents Harvey and Jessie Bowman; a brother Ross; sisters Isabel Pegg, Pauline Cooley and grandson Norman Bruce Green.
